     Q: Do hand held devices work?

A: Hand held devices may help to reduce the appearance of cellulite much like massage.  They could help to increase circulation to the area and loosen the bands that are holding the fat in place and creating bulges.  Be gentle in using these devices.  Since a trained professional is not administering the treatments, you could possibly harm yourself.  Be sure to read all of the directions and use with care.

Q: Are there any supplements that might help to get rid of cellulite?

A: Supplements are a very detailed topic and there are many things to consider when embarking on this choice.  One course member mentioned Ginkgo Biloba.  This is a controversial herb in that it can thin the blood.  If someone is taking blood thinners, it could be dangerous.  If you are considering taking herbs, then check with a physician or herbalist to see if there are any interactions with any medications that you are taking.  There are lots of supplements that are very beneficial for your health and possible weight control.  This is too large a topic to cover in this course.  The author of this book may do a supplement guide in the future.

Q: How about using essential oils on the areas that have cellulite?

A: This is a very interesting idea.  Essential oils are beneficial to one’s body and overall health.  Some of them help to increase circulation which may help to temporarily improve the appearance of cellulite.  Eucalyptus and Peppermint with Citrus may be good for this.  Dilute the oils with a pure and clean unscented oil.  Oils are mood enhancing which is also good for visualizing while using the oils.  The oils may be used in conjunction with massage to increase their effectiveness.

Q: What about rubbing pink grapefruit on the areas.

A: I never heard of this approach.  Citrus is stimulating and anything that increases circulation to the area may help, but this seems a bit messy.

Q: Are there certain foods that cause cellulite?

A:  While no particular food is responsible for cellulite, it would definitely help to eat fruits and vegetables which have a large water content and stay away from fried food and white sugar.
