Dont' forget to get moving! Here's How!
The most obvious thing that you can do is walk as much as possible. Wear comfortable shoes while shopping. If you are shopping at the mall, park at a store that is at the opposite end of the building from your intended destination.
Don't waste time and precious fuel fighting for the nearest parking spot to the entrance of a building. This basically just creates stress. Instead, park as far away as safely possible from the entrance and briskly walk over.
People mistakenly think that "working out" is putting on exercise gear and then following a plan, either at the gym, at a park or at home. It's wonderful if you can do that, and you should do that. But getting your heart rate up by walking, even if it's at a somewhat leisurely pace will benefit your health and help you to shed some extra holiday calories.
Recently, research done in Rotterdam, The Netherlands using data from the Framingham Heart Study showed that higher levels of physical activity can add 1.3 to 3.7 years to one's total life expectancy. The way to achieve these benefits is to walk frequently, at least 3 and preferable 5 times a week for at least half an hour. It's more important to walk frequently then to walk quickly. The people in this study achieved these results even when their pace was moderate.
Getting back to the holidays now. If you walk all the way through your shopping center a couple of times and park far away from the entrance, you will get some good walking time in.
Also, stay away from the escalators and use the stairs. I know you've heard this before but it really bears repeating. The same advice holds true for elevators. If it's less then 4 floors, use the stairs, so long as they are in a safe building and well lit.
Another scenario that many of us find ourselves in is the kitchen. This is fun if you love to cook and can be stressful if you are making lots of dishes at the last minute for company. Here's a fun, if not alittle bit silly way to get a bit of movement into your cooking. Try putting on some of your favorite music. There's nothing stopping you from moving around in the kitchen to your favorite tunes. Every bit of extra movement is a "calorie burned" and good for your circulation. You may also want to listen to holiday music and sing along. At least if you're singing you won't be doing too much extra nibbling.
The holidays don't have to be a disaster in terms of your plans to conquer your cellulite. Cellulite is fat and the less that you put on this season, the less you'll have on your body.
MORE MOVEMENT AND LESS NIBBLING!!!!!!!!!
