Cellulite and Skincare: Part 1
There are many steps that you have to take in order to minimize the appearance of cellulite on your body. Cellulite is fat that is caught between bands of connective tissue right below the surface of your skin.
Obivously, you need to reduce the amount of body fat that you have in order to start improving the look of your cellulite prone areas. Many of the tips and upcoming tips address reducing body fat through proper diet and exercise.
This tip looks specifically at skincare. There are a number of ways to treat the skin that covers your lumpy bumpy areas. Here are some of them:
1) Endermologie
Endermologie is a treatment process that must be done by a doctor or certified clinician. It's a machine that induces a deep type of massage to help loosen the bands of connective tissue. You must have a number of treatments and they are pricey. Most people are satisfied with the results but the results are sometimes temporary.
2) Velasmooth
Velasmooth is the latest in cellulite treatments. It uses both radiofrequency waves and infrared light to relax those bands of connective tissue and smooth out the skin. It's recommended that you get 2 treatments for 5 weeks and then one per month. Velasmooth is expensive and is performed in top laser clinics or by some cosmetic dermatologists. People are experiencing very good results with this procedure.
3) Topical Creams, Lotions and Gels
There are some excellent creams and gels on the market. Although the results may be temporary, they take a minimum of time to use and are relatively inexpensive. Here are some things to keep in mind when using a topical anti-cellulite cream or lotion.
- Exfoliate the area before appling the cream or gel. You can do this either with an exfoliating product or with a loofah type of mit or glove. TIP: It's always a good idea to exfoliate your whole body once a week. This helps to remove dead skin cells and unclog your pores. If you have been using lots of sunscreen (I hope you have!) or creams then you need to exfoliate your skin.
-Massage the anti-cellulite product deeply and vigorously into the areas that you need to treat. You may want to get a tool that will help you to do this. This is an important part of the process.
-Use the product everyday unless otherwise advised. Be persistent and patient. You will see results but it may take a bit of time.
-As always, use your secret weapon: your mind!!!!! Be sure to visualize your body as cellulite free when you are massaging the cream or gel into your skin.
