Cellulite Warning: The Holidays Are Coming: Part 1
Hey Everyone,
I just got through with my morning paper and realized that the holidays are upon us! What a happy yet stressful time of year. Here are some things to keep in mind so that you can stay on your cellulite reduction program to a reasonable degree.
DIET: This is a huge danger time in terms of diet. People bake yummy deserts and bring them into work. We go to office parties or get together with friends and family that are centered around food.
Remember, cellulite is fat. It is a special kind of fat but it is still fat. If we overdo it on the holiday snacks, we will gain fat and increase cellulite.
I don't want to tell you not to have fun and indulge over the holidays. I do want to tell you to have a plan and stick to it. If you know a certain aunt makes the best cookies you've ever tasted, then by all means have one or two. But just have one or two and don't consume any other starchy products at that sitting.
Also, be sure to drink plenty of water to keep from overeating as a reaction to thirst.
EXERCISE: Try to fit in small bouts of exercise even on busy days. It will help you to reduce stress, lift your spirits and reduce the appearance of cellulite. Just 10 minutes of cardiovascular exercise can rev up your metabolism. Be sure that you are doing your cardio at a high enough intensity. You can check this quickly by monitoring your breathing rate with the "Talk Test." The "Talk Test" means that when you are exercising, you have enough breath to talk but not enough to sing.
Speaking of singing, if you spend lots of time in the kitchen during the holidays, keep music on that makes you want to move and sing. Don't feel silly about dancing around the kitchen. It's extra calories burned. And if you are busy singing, you won't be eating.
SECRET WEAPON: THE MIND: Here's a couple of "mind" tips that you may want to try. If you truly know that you can't stop at just one or two cookies (or candy or...), then start visualizing that the food that is too tempting actually tastes awful. See yourself in your mind eating a piece and then spitting it out because it is awful. Disconnect from that food. I know that this sounds drastic, but the average person puts on at least 5 lbs. (2.5 kg) during the holidays. This will surely increase your cellulite.
MOTIVATION: Another trick you can try is to buy a great outfit for the holidays. Make it something that fits you really nicely now and won't allow for the extra weight when the holiday parties start. Make looking great in that outfit your goal.
