Treating Cellulite: Lumps and Bumps

Cellulite tends to give the appearance of lumps and bumps on your legs, hips and backside.  These bumps and lumps are actually globs of fat that are caught between connective tissue underneath your skin.  I'd like to use the analogy of climbing a mountain to conquering the cellulite that is plaguing you.

If you've ever looked up at a mountain or done some light hiking, you know that before you start, the mountain or trail, it can look quite daunting.  There are rocks and small hills on the path.

There are rocks and hills on the path to treating cellulite.  First off, if you're not already doing some type of cardiovascular workout, then you need to start.  Keep in mind that just two 10 minute segments of cardiovascular exercise may be enough to jump start your metabolism to help you lose fat.  Cardiovascular exercise also helps to increase circulation to the areas that have cellulite therefore those areas will start to look better.

Now that you are doing cardiovascular exercise, you've started your climb.  You are starting to get up the mountain but are stopped by a steep incline.  The cardiovascular exercise is helping, but you need some type of external treatment.  There are many treatments available, depending on your budget.  The most reasonable in price are topical treatments.  In order for topical treatments to be effective, you need to follow the directions that come with the product.  You also need to look at the ingredients to make sure that you won't have an allergic reaction to any of them.  Be sure to massage the topical treatment in so that you get an extra increase in circulation.  Your climb is now getting shorter.

Finally, you are almost at the top.  You need to push just a little bit harder and you will be there.  This is where diet comes into play.  The first thing that needs to go are fried foods and foods that are high in saturated fat (red meat, many cheeses, whole milk dairy products).  You then need to examine your consumption of foods that are high in white sugar and white flour.  This may be cookies and candy.  Finally, you need to replace soft drinks with lots of water.

You're now at the top.  You've finished your climb and your body is looking great.  Take time to appreciate your efforts and enjoy the view.
